Chiromancy is, in other words, the art of reading information from the palm of the hand concerning a person's character and predisposition. The oldest surviving records on this subject date back five thousand years, in what is now China, India and the Middle East in general. The Chinese took this area quite seriously, treating palm lines as a kind of bodily document for interpretation. It is also highly probable that the Indians used it to investigate the secrets of human characters. It is also possible that they were trying to find out the causes of possible illnesses. The Babylonians and ancient Egyptians tried to predict future events from the arrangement of lines on the inside of the hand. They drew these conclusions by noticing the similarity of the lines to the arrangement of the stars on the celestial vault. This is where the names of the individual line patterns, which are still used today, originate from astrology.
Today, the art of human palm reading is not recognised in the scientific world. This makes it all the more surprising that, almost until the end of the 18th century, it was a widely respected and widespread branch of knowledge. It was treated on a par with other areas of science and taught as a subject at many universities.
In chiromancy, a division has been adopted according to which the left hand is a carrier of information that we have inherited as part of our genetic heritage from our near and distant ancestors. It is supposed to indicate things that are somehow already established, determined, over which one has no direct influence. According to some, it is possible to deduce from the palm of the hand what talents a person has, as well as his or her approximate intelligence quotient, and even how many people he or she will give life to in the future. The right hand, on the other hand, supposedly shows our life in its active form, that is, how we influence it. It can in some way relate to our choices, how we live. With certainty, it reveals our every failing against a healthy and sustainable way of living. A skilled palm reader's eye can deduce a developing disease in someone's body before it gives concrete physical symptoms.
Lifeline
It is probably the best known and recognised of all the palm lines. For obvious reasons, it arouses the most interest. This line is supposed to indicate what condition we are in physically. Contrary to what first comes to mind, it does not predict actual life expectancy, and it is not at all about the actual size of the line on our hand. Instead, it can be used to read the intensity of our existence, which, as we know, leaves its mark on our body. A broken lifeline means that one's life has undergone many changes to which one has had to adapt. A short and wide lifeline, on the other hand, would indicate a very dynamic existence, unfortunately plagued from time to time by illness.
Headline
It can begin in the same place as the lifeline. The head line, as its term indicates, points to a person's intellectual sphere. It can also inform about invention, a tendency to think abstractly or how energetic and pivotal a person is in getting things done.
Heart line
It is responsible for emotions, and its shape and course are said to show the permanence and intensity of feelings. A very long heart line indicates the likelihood of a tendency towards hypersensitivity and jealousy. A straight heart line would indicate a tendency to withdraw into oneself.
Destiny line
Supposedly provides news of significant events in one's life and indicates the extent to which one will be happy. A short destiny line is said to represent a difficult but happy life, while an intermittent one suggests various afflictions in life.
Marriage line
(Also called the contact line) tells us whether we are destined to form a lasting relationship and supposedly how attached we will be to our partner.
Sun line
This is also called the line of good luck, the line of happiness or the line of talents. It starts at the bottom of the palm and continues towards the hill of the Sun, located at the base of the ring finger. The Sun line informs us of a person's talents, tastes, luck, success in life and sensitivity.
Health line
Begins under the little finger and runs diagonally towards the wrist of the hand. Based on the appearance of the health line, the trained eye of the chiromancer can deduce the current physical state of the person under examination. Apparently, from this line it is also possible to deduce something about the intellectual capacity of the holder of the examined hand.
Intuition (gut feeling) line
The intuition line is not present on every hand, which does not mean that people without the intuition line do not have premonitions at all. It is more often found on the palm of a woman's hand. The intuition line is said to signify a vivid imagination combined with a sharp and receptive mind, sensitivity, and decisiveness in action. To the qualities mentioned, it is also worth adding consistency in pursuing one's goals and persistence, a lively mind, sensitivity, decisiveness in action and stubbornness in pursuing one's goals.
Milky Way
This is a line of lesser importance than the ones presented so far, but it perfectly complements the general characteristics of a person's personality. The line of the Milky Way starts at the bottom of the hand and runs parallel to the wrist, more precisely to the line of the ascetic. It indicates creativity in the general sphere and invention in the intimate sphere. This line is typical of artists and creators. It is sometimes not found on every hand.
